...and John Paul stood in "his room".
We marched back to the very full pond and discovered a brand new ecosystem forming. First there was a bright green scum on the surface, common to new ponds as they develop bacteria.
Then we saw a frog hop in and discovered hundreds of tadpoles inside egg sacks along the bank.
We found deer tracks all around as well, all evidence of our newly forming habitat coming together. Very cool! I WOULD have shown you a picture of a fat monarch caterpillar that Jamie and I were thrilled to find....but the giant John Paul stomped on it.
Like Jamie said afterwards, "I don't think you want a picture of a dead caterpillar."
